The Making of a Destiny

Democratic Altruism

The commitment to social awareness is why altruism is important in developing democratic spaces. While altruism and democracy are not the same, they are closely connected. Both are systems: democracy is for making decisions together and sharing power, while altruism focuses on caring for others.

Like democracy, democratic space bets on the possibilities of transformation. It calls for spatial systems designed with structural reciprocity, in which the forces "lean" on each other yet remain self-supporting.

These spaces foster a shared sense of belonging and agreement on principles like freedom, work, and sexual equality, which nourish and reinforce social cohesion.

Emotional engagement should drive this story and create a two-way process between identity and representation, helping to form a true sense of a 'People.'

Aided by parametric design, altruistic democratic spaces, and forms will be indistinguishable from other future habitats using the same design methodology. However, the social and ecological framework carried on within their confines will generate the cultural changes that enhance altruism at the genetic level. I will explain this further later.
