Wave Form

Three decades later, Mission Community College is undergoing a comprehensive transformation. The original main building is scheduled for demolition.

As Director of Maintenance and Operations, I am responsible for relocating existing artwork. I joined the campus art committee to facilitate this process. One particular artwork poses significant challenges for relocation. Some faculty members are debating whether to remove it rather than relocate it.

Shortly after the debate began, another sculpture was donated to the campus and installed in a prominent location at one of the main entrances. This decision relegated the older artwork to a less visible position.

While installing the new artwork, Bruce Beasley and I discovered that we had both studied under sculptor Professor Voulkos. This coincidence, for reasons I could not immediately articulate, prompted me to compare the old and new pieces. I intuitively understand the new sculpture; it explores the concept of interconnected wholeness.
