As above, so below, as below, so above

The intricate relationship between Guided Imagery, the silhouette or double-world, and writing can be understood as part of humanity’s ancient effort to explore the relationship between consciousness, nature, and the unseen.

Within the framework of Guided Imagery, we can imagine such altered states opening another dimension of perception—a world populated by vivid images, archetypal forms, memories, sensations, and unexpected ideas. What appeared inwardly could then be given outward form through writing, carving, painting, ritual, and architecture.

In this sense, the silhouette became more than an outline. It became a threshold between worlds.

The visible figure suggested an invisible counterpart: body and spirit, image and double, earth and sky, the known and the unknown. What appeared on the surface could point toward something existing beyond it.

Nature seemed to reinforce this relationship.

The lotus emerged from water, opened toward the light, closed again, and returned with another day. The Nile rose and receded. The moon waxed and waned. Seasons returned. Human bodies followed rhythms of birth, fertility, aging, death, and renewal.

These recurring patterns encouraged an understanding of existence not as a collection of isolated events, but as interconnected cycles.

Through observation, measurement, ritual, and imagination, the Egyptians developed sophisticated systems for recording time and order. Lunar observations, civil calendars, solar cycles, geometry, and numerical relationships became ways of translating the rhythms of the natural world into human knowledge.
